I sell cars, I should probably know this. But is the GGT a continuous charge? I think I might end up with a V instead of a Vette, but don't want to keep paying that extra tax every year. Does it reoccur with personal property? Or is it a one time think just factored into the sticker?

Pretty sure it's a one time thing.

One time thing for us in America. I think in some European countries the taxes on higher displacement/lower fuel economy cars are recurring, don't quote me on that.

Doesn't the new Vette have cylinder deactivation? I'm surprised it couldn't get around the GGT.

The Vette does. The V does not.

Ah looking back I misread the post.

It should be a one time fee when you buy the car new. But the registration may be a little more money each year than a non ggt car.
If you're getting a used V I don't think that you have to pay the ggt again.

For example, in Belgium, it would cost about 5000 Euro to register a Mustang (GT or V6) and the insurance cost will most likely be the same.
It is based on hp and/or engine size whichever is gives the bigger tax.
To give you an example, a friend of mine bought an Audi A3 years ago. He bough the 166hp Diesel version because it was cheaper to insure and register (quite a bit cheaper) than the 172hp version.

Damn that's awful taxation.

I know you've been answered already but it's worth mentioning it's listed on the window sticker when applicable.

You also have to have them inspected after 4 years (when you buy them brand new) or before you sell them. And every year after that. Which is a good thing in my opinion
Here is to give you an idea of the costs: http://www.touring-assurances.be/auto/comprendr… (Touring is the equivalent of AAA) just for registration.

Oh I know. I see those stickers every day lol. I just wasn't sure if it was something that was charged repeatedly with your PPT.

As you've seen it's one time, and only when buying new. Are you going new?
